Speaker of the Shura Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud on Tuesday met with Chairman of Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) Dr Fadli Zon. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 7th Global Conference of Parliamentarians Against Corruption in Doha.
During the meeting, the parliamentary cooperation between the Shura Council and GOPAC and the ways of enhancing them were reviewed.
The Shura speaker also met with Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chung and discussed relations between the Shura Council and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
He also met with President of the National Assembly of Mali Issaka Sidibe and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed, according to which the two parties agreed to enhance parliamentary cooperation to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Qatari Shura Council and the National Assembly of Mali.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, Ambassador of Mali to Qatar HE Cheick Ahmed Tidiany Diakite said that under the MoU, Qatar and Mali have agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and friendship between.
He said the MoU would also enhance parliamentary channels of communication between two countries.
The Shura speaker also met with President of the Senate of Somalia Abdi Hashi Abdi.
He met with Vice-President of the House of Representatives of Rwanda Musa Fadel.
The two meetings reviewed the parliamentary relations between Qatar and Somalia and Rwanda.
