The Technical Committee for the Encouragement and Participation of the Private Sector in Economic Development Projects is working with the government to review existing laws, rules and regulations to ensure the ease of doing business in Qatar, the committee’s head said on Monday.
Speaking at the Improving Qatar’s Business Environment Forum in Doha, Khamis al Mohannadi, head of the committee, said many initiatives like awarding projects to private sector under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, introduction of single window system and new laws to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are being taken to boost private sector in the country.
“There is always an opportunity for improvement, and that the committee aims to promote and expand the growth of the private sector. We want to get closer to the challenges it faces and work to overcome them,” he said.
He said that a committee to review the rise in fees imposed by government agencies in relation to the business sector will be formed soon.
