Hundreds of Mowasalat (Karwa) drivers and support staff took part in a two-day health and safety awareness event organised by the company at its headquarters in Karwa City.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and other stakeholders.
Titled ‘Care for your life’, the event included free basic health checkup, presentations on health, safety, proper nutrition and first aid training by specialist medical professionals.
Display of various yoga poses by an expert was one of the major highlights of the event. The participants took on the spot training to perform various yoga exercises to cope with back, shoulder and neck pain under the qualified trainer.
The yoga teacher also took the occasion to help the participants in dealing with stress with specific exercises.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, a Karwa driver said, “I always look forward to this annual event mostly organised in the December. It is an ideal platform to learn so many things at one place. I take keen interest in the yoga session as it is helpful in getting rid of spine pains due to poor posture while driving.”
Mowasalat’s health, safety, security and environment department also collaborated with state agencies to present live safety demonstrations like firefighting demo with fire truck on site.
Various health and wellbeing tips like ‘try to get eight hours sleep per night’, ‘sleep-debt stresses your body and mind’, ‘healthy food and exercise are vital’, ‘find positive ways to deal with stress at work and home’, ‘managing a stressful situation well can make you feel good’, ‘early reporting of injury’, ‘first aid for injuries’, ‘micropauses and breaks’, ‘mixing time spent sitting with standing’ and ‘walking and many more’ were given to the participants.
The MADLSA represented by its head of Occupational Safety and Health Department made a detailed presentation of updated rules and regulations on occupational safety and health.
Booklets to enhance safety awareness among Mowasalat employees were also distributed on the occasion. The team from MADLSA praised initiatives taken by Mowasalat to make its employees aware of latest rules and regulations concerning their health and safety.

Through such events, we aim to enhance productivity at work through cultural bonding and social connections among the employees, create a healthy and interactive work environment that meets international standards.”
“Mowasalat believes in a safety approach that includes both mind and body safety as it cares about meeting all requirements, from health care to safety at work,” he said.
Organised as part of Mowasalat’s annual activities to spread awareness for general health and safety at all levels, the event also witnessed many raffle draws for lucky winners.
Besides various entertainment and culture programmes, fortune wheel with prizes, roadshow with gift items and fruit distribution were also organised on the occasion.
