Shura discusses 2020 draft budget Dec 09, 2019 0 1353 12345 QNADohaThe Shura Council on Sunday discussed the state’s draft public budget for fiscal year 2020, and the draft budget approval law.Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Shareef al Emadi, President of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) HE Dr Saad bin Ahmed al Muhannadi and a line-up of senior officials in the Ministry of Finance were present during the discussion.Emadi explained the government’s view on the draft budget and answered questions and inquiries from members of the council.Shura Council Speaker HE Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al Mahmoud said the draft budget is one of the fruits of this wise policy and sound economic planning, with its goals and bases, which include providing the necessary allocations for the plans and projects of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the requirements of the second strategic plan 2018-2022 with its various economic, social, human and environmental pillars as well as providing financial allocations for the completion of major projects and those related to the 2022 World Cup.It also included allocating financial credits to develop infrastructure in the free, economic, industrial and logistical zones; developing the lands of citizens, supporting initiatives for developing business environment to enhance the role of the private sector and its participation in various economic activities, and supporting food security projects as well as small and medium enterprises.After extensive in-depth and objective discussions, the Shura Council commended the draft budget, as well as the efforts of the esteemed government and the plans and programmes that it is implementing within the framework of the National Development Strategy 2018-22 and Qatar National Vision 2030.
