Pakistan emerged winners in the Men’s Team Championship in the third Inter-Community Table Tennis Tournament, in the 19-40 age group.
The event, in which some 17 expatriate communities from Qatar participated, was organised jointly by Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) and Indian Sports Centre, recently.
More than 200 players representing communities from Egypt, Indonesia, India, Lebanon, the Philippines, Pakistan, Russia, Ghana, Syria, Malaysia, Tunisia, Iraq, Nicaragua, Taiwan, Kyrgyzstan and Qatar, competed in various male and female events, displaying appreciable skills and sporting spirit. The championship was played in 12 categories.
India won the overall championship and lifted the Doha Bank Challengers Trophy. 
Pakistan played against Egypt in the finals in Men’s Team Championship in the 19-40 age group. Awais Ahmed, the captain of Pakistan team, won the men’s single (19-40 years) by beating Ammar Hassan of Egypt. 
The other team members included Usman Zafar, Saqib Nadeem and Shehzad Ahmed. Qaiser Khan was the team official. 
QTTA Board Member Thani al Zarraa, was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony and he gave away the prizes. The other dignitaries who presented the prizes were QTTA Technical Secretary Ziad Abu Karaki, QTTA Technical Committee members Elie Khayat and Maher Ben Ahmed, ISC Acting President Sharaf P Hameed, ISC General Secretary Mohd Habibun Nabi, Secretary Indoor Games Arun Kumar, Milan Arun who was representing Tayseer Motors, MS Bukhari, MD SATCO, and ISC members Srini and Nisha Agarwal.
Earlier, a spectacular ceremony marked the opening of the tournament.
Head of Chancery at the Embassy of India KS Dhiman was the chief guest.
