Qatar Debate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), organised a training workshop to enhance the skills of participants in negotiation on climate change issues. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), at the centre’s headquarters in Education City.
Saad al Assad of Qatar Debate Center and the presenter of the three-day workshop, said the event aims to raise public awareness on climate change issues, ways to build attitudes towards these issues, and defend the point of view on climate change.
He said the workshop dealt with environmental issues and their negative effects, and the global efforts to deal with these challenges.
The workshop was divided into three sections: The first was devoted to global news and its relationship to climate change; the second was about how to establish general frameworks for dialogue on the points that affect our lives; and the final section was devoted to simulation by dividing the participants into groups, each discussing a proposal in which time is set.
A number of participants in the workshop said they benefited from the methods of analysis and discussions, and the solutions presented at the debate, indicating that the debate skills develop the foundations of dialogue and help raise ideas to support visions on the subject of climate. (QNA)
