Beijing: Less than one hundred anti-government protesters remained at Hong Kong’s Polytechnic University on Thursday morning after several days of clashes with police, according to local media.
The group is all that remains of a ten-day occupation of the campus that saw thousands of protesters block entrances and fortify the campus using Molotov cocktails, catapults and defensive barriers against police.
The Hong Kong government said that more than 800 people had left campus by Tuesday night.
According to public broadcaster RTHK many of the protesters were arrested on their departure, following a violent standoff with police from Sunday onwards that saw injuries on both sides. (DPA)
