Qatar is going to set a new benchmark in the way preparations for a mega global sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, is going on, Bryan K Barnett, mayor of Rochester Hills and 77th president of the United States Conference of Mayors, said on Tuesday.
Barnett, who is leading a delegation of seven mayors from different US cities to Doha, said the way Qatar is executing all projects related to 2022 FIFA World Cup is unprecedented.
“Many countries have organised mega sporting events like the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics, but the way Qatar is marching ahead with its preparations is extraordinary. Qatar’s early planning and detailed preparations to host a safe and secure FIFA World Cup will set a precedent for future mega events,” Barnett told Qatar Tribune. page 2
