A total of 549 literary and artistic works from 33 Arab and foreign countries are competing for the eighth edition of the State Award for Children’s Literature 2019.
Director of the Culture and Arts Department in the Ministry of Culture and Sports and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the State Award for Children’s Literature, Hamad Mohammed al Zakiba, said the award committees have finished counting of the works that have applied for the award. A total of 632 entries were submitted for the five categories of the award, of which 83 were excluded for not meeting the conditions for participation.
The approved 549 entries come from 19 Arab countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, in addition to Arab writers from 14 countries of diaspora which are Malaysia, Canada, Bulgaria, France, Netherlands, Finland, Spain, Austria, Ireland, Germany, Britain, Australia, Sweden and Turkey.
