Education City has been a hive of activity during the Doha Learning Days (DLD), the country’s first experiential learning festival. Organised by WISE with more than 50 local partners and innovators from November 14 to 19, the festival has highlighted several themes including science and technology in the ‘Learning Labs’, wellness activities, sustainability, empowerment in the ‘Networking Majlis’, and special needs and accessibility. It has also presented several exciting offshoot activities including practitioner workshops and sessions with WISE Summit speakers.
Aspire Zone was the venue for two of the practitioner workshops, which gave teachers a chance to connect and learn from innovators in education. ‘Teacher’s Day Out!, held at KidZania Doha, invited teachers to a workshop convened by Dr Ger Graus, global education director at KidZania. The interactive facilities at KidZania help children aged 4-14 to experience the world of work through realistic role play.
A workshop curated by Aspire Academy and Brain Education Middle East focused on ways of screening students with mixed abilities and practical methods of motivating them toward effective learning.
WISE Summit speakers such as Steven MacGregor also presented an HEC Executive Education Program Masterclass during DLD, while Jason Silva, futurist and philosopher, delivered a TEDx-style talk exploring new ways to approach learning.
DLD is open to the public until November 19, and the activities and sessions are free to attend. For more information on the full program, please visit: https://www.wise-qatar.org/wise-2019/doha-learning-days/
