As part of the Children’s Day celebrations, Birla Public School (BPS) recently hosted a juvenile awareness programme organised by the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Juvenile Police.
Captain Shahid Rashid S Alateeq led the event, along with Abdonieel from the Cyber Security Department and Faizal Niyaz as the translator.
The special session was attended by 600 students and 20 teachers of the Secondary School. The session included awareness lessons and advice from Captain Alateeq, especially for children aged 12 to 16.
The initiative of the Department of Juvenile Police aims to protect students from cyber criminals and help them stay away from such criminal acts.
Captain Alateeq shed light on juvenile crimes and the hidden traps in the cyber world. The session gave special emphasis on the wise use of social media as Captain Alateeq cautioned the students not to involve in online activities with strangers.
Sandeep Shukla, coordinator of the event, introduced the chief guest. The one-hour session was also attended by Vice-Principal Rajesh Pillai and Headmaster of the Secondary Section Thomas John.
After the session, BPS Principal A P Sharma held a meeting with Captain Alateeq. They exchanged ideas on the actions taken by the governments of India and Qatar on juvenile cases. They agreed on giving counselling to students to keep them away from committing such crimes.
