ATTORNEY-General of Qatar and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Center (ROLACC) HE Ali bin Fetais al Marri has affirmed Qatar’s support to all international efforts aimed at maintaining peace, imposing rule of law and fighting corruption, especially in zones of conflict and unrest.
Marri stressed that Qatar has been supporting the institutions of the United Nations and other international organisations in the field of peace proactively and is always ready to provide all forms of support and assistance to promote international peace and security.
At the opening of a workshop organised by ROLACC, in cooperation with United Nations, and attended by heads of peacekeeping missions across the world on Sunday, the Attorney-General said the two-day workshop is hosted by ROLACC as part of its regional and international role in training cadres around the world on the principles of the rule of law and fighting corruption, in close cooperation with the United Nations and its various institutions and offices.
He praised the support received by ROLACC from Qatar on the directives of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin HamadalThani.
Marristressed the importance of this workshop, which gathers heads of UN peace missions from around the world, noting that international peace and security is closely linked to rule of law and fight against corruption as their absence coupled with impunity contribute to fueling conflicts.
He said thatROLACC plays an importantin the training of peacekeepers andtheir understanding of the principles of the rule of law and the fight against corruption in order to help them perform better wherever they work.
He further stressed that the tasks carried out by the peacekeeping forces of the United Nations in various regions of the world cannot take place in the absence of the rule of law and justice.
He pointed out that the real spark that ignites the armed conflicts in many countries is due to widespread corruption and lack of justice due to the absence of the rule of law.
