Doha Learning Days (DLD), the country’s first experiential learning festival, organised by WISE, set aside Sunday, November 17, as Women’s Empowerment Day.
The day’s sessions marked the theme with activities in Networking Majlis that focused on empowerment and inspiration.
‘Speed-Mentoring’ gave high school students and their parents a chance to meet current undergraduates from several universities, including Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar, Georgetown University in Qatar, Northwestern University in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar and Texas A&M University at Qatar, in a speed-mentoring format.
Questions related to applying for college and what the courses entail were shared in a casual setting.
‘Speed-Mentoring with Female Change-makers and Role Models in Qatar’ introduced an impressive line-up of local female change-makers and thought-leaders who openly shared their knowledge and advice with young girls to give them guidance and inspiration going forward on their future career paths.
Speakers included Folly Bah Thibault, principal presenter on Al Jazeera English, Amal al Muftah, an established Qatari filmmaker and Haneen al Saify, a Qatari influencer.
