Sweden’s football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be leaving the Los Angeles Galaxy after two seasons, both sides announced on Wednesday.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) side said the club and player agreed to “mutually part ways” and thanked Ibrahimovic for his service after scoring 56 goals in 52 games since he joined the club in March 2018.
“I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you (LA Galaxy) for making me feel alive again,” Ibrahimovic said in a tweet.
“To the Galaxy fans - you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues ... Now go back to watch baseball.”
The LA Galaxy only won one playoff game with Ibrahimovic, who missed out on the most valuable player award in both of his seasons in the MLS.
“We would like to thank Zlatan for his contributions to the LA Galaxy and Major League Soccer,” LA Galaxy President Chris Klein said.
“Since his arrival in 2018, Zlatan has positively influenced the sport of soccer in Los Angeles. We are grateful for his work ethic and passion.”
