Ta’allum Education has honoured a number of staff members for their excellence in a variety of fields during the academic year 2018-19.
At the colourful 5th annual ‘Rewards and Recognition’ ceremony held at Katara Hall 12 recently, some 240 awards were distributed to the staff.
The event attained special significance as all the three Ta’allum Academies were fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), demonstrating their rising standards, cementing their reputation as the ‘schools of choice’ for the Qatari community.
Guests of Honour at the event included Ta’allum Group Chairman Ghanim bin Saad al Saad, CEO Ahmed al Mannai, Director of Education Dr Mohammed Saefan and Executive Director of Tarbeya Dr Shawkat Talha Talafha.
Mannai thanked the staff and expressed his pride in Ta’allum’s achievements in the past year, while Dr Saefan congratulated the staff for their hard work leading to the WASC accreditation.
Long-serving staff, including Hana al Mahi and Evangelique Adriano with 16 years of service, received awards for their loyalty to the institution.
Teachers whose classes had achieved 100 percent pass rates in IGCSE and AS examinations also received awards.
Jeanette Azouz, AMAG principal, took away 5 trophies including for the Best Secondary School, while Sheldon Smith received 4 trophies, including ‘The best Academy in the delivery of the Tarbeya Values’ programme.
For the first time, the Ta’allum School of Excellence Trophy was retained by AMAB. Shuja Uddin was joined on the stage by his triumphant senior team members Andy Hubble, Michael Myford, Amina Begum, Sean Dennis and Mohammed Osman to receive the ceremonial banner proclaiming their success.
Besides, the special CEO Awards recognised 4 staff members, Margaret Coker, Farhana Ebrahim, Nizamumuddin Saiyad and Nadia Waja, for their extraordinary contribution to Ta’allum’s development.
