Installing is not painful at all. Post-installing is usually not painful as well. The shape of the braces has improved in a way that suits the patients and doesn’t cause pain. Also, the braces need to be adjusted on a monthly basis.
What is adjusting the teeth gaps all about?
When the gap is too wide, it is preferable to seek help at a younger age – when the bones are still adjustable and easy to operate on.
Patients may have several gaps caused by teeth falling or removed. It is extremely difficult to fill the gaps especially when the gaps are very wide, in which case, a Dental Implant is the only solution.

Several methods of treatment are used to fix the “gummy smile”.
Hypermobile upper lip is, when smiling, too much gum tissues tend to show. The length and position of the gum can also be related.
We study the patient’s X-rays and then determine the exact problem, to be able to initiate the treatment.
In some cases the “gummy smile” is caused by the width of the jaw itself, and that’s when an operation is needed.
Botox in also used now to treat “gummy smile” – by injecting the lip to hide the extra tissue of the gum. However, this is only a temporary and not a definitive cure.
When the situation is not as complicated, we can operate on the gum to shorten it.

What are the latest devices being used in dental braces now?
The focus is now on the cosmetic devices – they have the same effect as the traditional braces.
“Lingual Braces” are the same as traditional metal braces, except that the brackets and wires are placed on the inside of the teeth.
Then we have the “Invisalign” clear plastic aligners that can be removed easily and replaced easily. It is the most advanced device being used now. At Al Emadi we use a patient’s digital simulation to show patients the teeth movement and the final expected result.
