THE total number of applicants for the Scientific Excellence Award 2020, for all its nine categories, has reached 298 covering all educational levels, public and private schools and teachers.
The CEO of the Scientific Excellence Award and Secretary-General of Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Dr Hamda Hassan al Sulaiti said that the applicants include 81 for distinguished student category at primary stage; 37 for preparatory stage, 41 for high school graduates category; 12 for outstanding scientific research; and 51 students including 28 graduates from Qatar University and 23 from private and military universities for university students category.
Sulaiti added that the evaluation of the files for the 13th edition of the award will be conducted by various committees between November 10 and December 12, while the winners will be announced in January, 2020, and the award ceremony will take place on March 3, 2020.
The Scientific Excellence Award is a pillar of the educational system in the State of Qatar. It aims to honour distinguished Qatari students and foster creativity and innovation among students and educational institutions.
The award works to deepen the concepts of excellence and creativity through adoption of international standards, implementation of specific programmes and integration of individual and institutional efforts to improve outcomes of the educational process in Qatar.
