Dr. Khaled al Sulaiti, Secretary-General of Katara Cultural Village inaugurated exhibition of Cuban artist Juan Arel painting at the Cultural Village. The exhibition was organised by Cuban embassy in collaboration with Katara Cultural Village Foundation. Present on the occasion were HE Eumelio Caballero Rodriguez, ambassador of Cuba, a large number of diplomats, guests and art
lovers.
The envoy paid his gratitude to Dr Sulaiti, and to his team for giving them opportunity to enjoy once more the beautiful paintings of Juan Arel, thus contributing to further strengthening of relations of friendship and cultural cooperation between the peoples of Cuba and Qatar.
Refreshing the memories, he said that some of you might remember the paintings that Juan Arel exhibited here in Katara almost two years ago or his solo exhibition as part of the programme for the commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Al Shaqab Foundation.
Juan Arel is also recipient of First Price at the International Dhow Festival organised by Katara Cultural Village last year. The ambassador said that the famous Cuban painter is becoming familiar to the art lovers in Qatar, where a number of his works are present at various prestigious private collections.
He said that we are enjoying a modest representation of the most recent work of Juan Arel, this time focused mainly on his series “horses”.
Rodriguez said that Juan Arel does not follow pre-established patterns.
He thanked Juan Arel for his presence and said that these beautiful paintings might be devoted to Cuban Cultural National Day, to be commemorated by the Cuban people in October.
The exhibition will remain open until November 14, 2019.
