Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre (QICDRC) and Hamad Bin Khalifa University’s (HBKU) College of Law signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing Qatar’s legal environment.
QICDRC Chief Executive Officer Faisal al Sahouti and Dean of HBKU College of Law Dr Susan L Karamanian signed the three-year agreement in the presence of representatives of both organisations.
The MoU will see the launch of a ‘QICDRC-HBKU College of Law Lecture Series’, to be organised and hosted by both sides on topics related to international dispute resolution, substantive principles of commercial and business law and QICDRC-specific legal applications. In addition to joint conferences, colloquia and workshops, the MoU also offers Court judges and senior personnel the opportunity to deliver guest lectures at the HBKU College of Law as well as attend courses on an auditing basis.
Highlighting the benefits of the joint initiative, Sahouti said, “As home-grown organisations, we follow a fundamental drive towards the development of a diversified, knowledge-based economy for our country’s future, as we are entrusted with the mentorship of the next generation of legal professionals.”
Dr Karamanian said, “The MoU builds on the already strong relationship between HBKU’s College of Law and the QICDRC. We are particularly excited about having QICDRC judges and officials as guest lecturers at the College of Law. Their knowledge, based on a lifetime of varied experiences, will undoubtedly expand the horizons of our students.”
Since its initial inception as the HBKU College of Law & Public Policy in 2014, the HBKU College of Law has taken an innovative approach to the J D legal education. Its unique curricular focus on international business, commerce and dispute resolution contributes to an advanced legal ecosystem in Qatar and beyond.
QICDRC consistently seeks new national partnerships to establish Qatar as a commercial hub and world leader in the application of the rule of law in the area of dispute resolution.
