THE Permanent Population Committee (PPC) will be celebrating ‘Qatar Population Day’ on Tuesday under the theme ‘Population Policy between Reality & Hope’.
The event is expected to be attended by President of PPC and Planning and Statistics Authority HE Dr Salehbin Mohammad al Nabit, Minister of Culture and Sports HE Saleh bin Ghanem al Ali, resident representative of the UN Populations Fund in Oman Aser Tosson, members of PPC and related authorities, and participants of the 2018-2022 National Development Strategy.
Qatar Population Day aims at revealing the latest and most important accomplishments of the population policy, determining the difficulties and challenges, and raising awareness of population issues.
Meanwhile, those who followed the motto of ‘Towards ensuring a decent life for the people of Qatar’ will be honoured at the event.
The function will feature a session to review and evaluate Singapore’s experience in implementing its population policy, and to discuss and learn from its experience.
Another session will exhibit the general outcomes of the second stage of following up Qatar’s population policy for 2018-2022.
The population policy of Qatar is development-oriented and aims to control population growth rate and achieve demographic balance.
