AS part of October Breast Cancer Awareness month, a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations to highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness as well as proper research, Oryx Rotana, a five-star luxury business hotel in town, has launched a series of initiatives to raise the community’s awareness of the importance of early detection of the disease.
Under Oryx Rotana’s Corporate Social Responsibility umbrella, the hotel is joining hands with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) for the ‘Walk to Support’ event on October 25 under ‘Blossom’ campaign that the charity launched recently to raise awareness about the disease and remind the people about the importance of early detection.
Meanwhile, the hotel has organised different activities for its employees and hotel guests such as Breast Cancer lecture, free Pink Zumba class arranged by Bodylines Fitness & Wellness Club, Saturday Lazy Pink Brunch at ‘The Cellar’, Oryx Rotana’s award-winning restaurant while the ‘Sky Lounge’ has introduced several menu items in pink throughout the month.
According to the latest Qatar National Cancer Registry (QNCR) of the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar, in 2016 there were 266 newly diagnosed cases ofbreast cancer in the country.
