QATAR Charity (QC) has launched the fourth edition of the Future’s Writers programme, which aims at developing the writing skills of students. The launch ceremony was attended by QC officials, representatives of key partners, judges, writers, media persons and those interested in the cultural arena.
Significantly, this edition of the programme will allow for the first time students with special needs and Qatar University’s male and female students to take part in the competitive activities to discover their hidden creative talents.
The students belonging to primary and preparatory schools in Qatar can participate in the programme as usual. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mariam al Hammadi, director-general of the Qatari Authors’ Forum and representative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ali al Kuwari, director of the School Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Hamad al Khulaki, Events Specialist at Qatar University, Khalid al Dulaimi, managing director of Lusail Publishing and Distribution House, and Jasim al Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jasim al Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at QC, said, “The Future’s Writers programme moves ahead with constant improvement in its editions to reach out to new students and nurture talents in them. It also intends to partner with relevant national organisations and provide advanced training events to groom promising writers.”
Emadi praised the support and cooperation of the partners, including Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar University, Qatari Authors’ Forum, Khair Jalees Book Club and Lusail Publishing and Distribution House.
Mariam al Hammadi underlined the importance of the programme and praised Qatar Charity for its effort to promote creativity, innovation and spread cultural values.
Ali al Kuwari said, “The Ministry is honoured to sponsor this programme, which aims to discover students’ literary talents.”
Hamad al Khulaki praised Qatar Charity for its contribution towards creating cultural awareness in the community, especially in the younger generation.
Dulaimi thanked Qatar Charity and the partners of the programme. He said, “It is a platform that allows participants to showcase their hidden talents and encourages aspiring writers to produce literary works.” Dulaimi added that all support would be provided to this programme through printing, distributing, and translating the works.
