HINDUSTANI Classical maestro Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar regaled the Doha audience with a mesmerising performance at a concert hosted by Beats and Tunes Events, a new event management company, at the Giwana Hall of Radisson Blu Hotel recently.
The concert was attended by around 400 people.
Abhyankar kept the audience glued to their seats throughout the two and a half hours concert with his melodious and masterly renditions of compositions, mostly his own, based on a variety of ragas, including Rageshwari and Kalawati, Hemant and Sindhu Bhairavi.
Abhyankar sang three different compositions based on Raga Rageshwari and also explained to the audience the nuances of Hindustani Classical music. Besides, he sang a ‘Hori’ composition much to the delight of the audience that included some Qataris as well.
This was the second visit of Abhyankar to Doha.
Guest of Honour Hamad al Zakiba, a Ministry of Culture and Sports official, also attended the concert and felicitated the artistes, presenting a memento on behalf of Beats and Tunes Events.
Indian Ambassador to Qatar HE P Kumaran was the chief guest at the event.
Usha Ravishankar delivered the welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by the chief coordinator of the event Gopal Balasubramaniam.
