NOTED Indian businessman and philanthropist Padma ShriCheril Krishna Menon, popularly known as CK Menon, who was a long time resident of Qatar, died at Apollo Hospital in Chennai on Tuesday.
Menon’s cremation will take place in his hometown Thrissur in Kerala on Wednesday. The Indian Cultural Centre will hold a condolence meeting at Ashoka Hall.
Menon was the chairman and managing director of Behzad Corporation, ABN Corporation & Ali Bin Naser Al Misnad Transport.
He is survived by his wife Jayasree Krishna Menon and children Anjana Krishna Menon (Director, Bhavan’s Public School, Doha), Sreeranjini Krishna Menon (UK) and JK Menon (Managing Director of Behzad Corporation and Ali Bin Nasser Al Misnad Group, Doha-Qatar).
Menon’s commercial involvement stretched from Qatar to the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South America and the UK with the headquarters in Doha, for more than 35 years.
Menon was also the Vice Chairman of Norka Roots, the Government of Kerala.
Menon was awarded with Padma Shri in 2009 as a recognition of his charitable and social activities. He also received Pravasi Bharatiya Samman in 2006.
He was born in Thrissur district of Kerala in 1949.
