The third edition of ‘TEDxBirla Public School’ became a memorable platform for another fresh and invigorating round of innovative ideas.
The evening began with the screening of the Official TEDx Intro Video. The comperes Bhoomika and Abhilash, both students of XII grade, succinctly connected the happenings around the world.
Renowned speakers such as Bindhu Hari, Abdallah Hamdan, Nasheed Shafi, Kudzai Mukaratirwa and student speaker Shrishti Shenoy inspired the young minds with new vision. The event saw the attendance of senior guests, intellectuals from various fields, teachers and students.
The telecast of two recorded videos of Tim Urban titled ‘Inside the mind of a master procrastinator’ and Arthur Benjamin’s ‘Combining two polar opposites, Magic and Mathematics’ were also appreciated.
The event supported the school’s aim of bringing together people and exploring new pathways for healthy sustainence and revitalised living.
Hari, director of The International School Bangalore (TISB), the National Academy For Learning (NAFL) and the National Public School Institutions in India and Singapore, raised the audience awareness about holistic living and its positive dimensions. Shafi, a climate change advocate who campaigns extensively to raise awareness of climate change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), spoke on the elements that build an ecologically conscious society, which can nurture and protect the planet.
On his part, Hamdan, a chemical engineer, enlightened the audience about the four dimensions of success.
Mukaratirwa, director of Online Model United Nations, who is also currently holding a key position in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, discussed the power of doing the right things and how the consequences of one’s actions can echo forever.
Shenoy, student speaker of BPS and a participant of the recent World Choral Expo in Portugal, shared her opinion on modern communication system and its tragic effect of minimising the humane touch.
The school management provided an opportunity to the senior students to develop and exhibit their various social and leadership skills.
The Principal A P Sharma, was supported by Vice-Principal (Co-Scholastics), Rajesh Pillai. Under their wise guidance, the preparation and execution of the programme was headed by a group of senior students led by Co-organiser Arshia Arora, Curators Riya Mahajan and Sindhu Nithyananda. They were also supported by a special team of teachers.
