Philippine School Doha (PSD) kicked off its annual Junior High School (JHS) Intramurals 2019 with a grand opening ceremony held at the school’s gymnasium on Saturday.
PSD Principal Dr Alexander Acosta led the start of the glitzy event with the theme ‘Sustaining Growth and Development through Sports’.
The event started with an opening production of Hiyaw Dance Troupe, a pride of PSD when it comes to showcasing the wealth of talent of its students. It was followed by the lighting of the athletic urn by Keight Comia, who was part of the Mythical 5 in the department’s basketball tournament held last year, and recitation of the oath of sportsmanship led by Danica Rosales, volleyball tournament MVP in 2018.
Dr Acosta and the team managers then declared the JHS Intramurals 2019 officially open following a ceremonial toss.
The programme was also highlighted with the much-awaited search for Mr & Ms JHS Intramurals 2019 where eight candidates vied for the coveted titles.
JHS Vice Principal Dr Caridad Canete delivered an inspirational message on the occasion followed by the reading of the mechanics by Science teacher Shiela Mae C. Bello.
The intermission number led by Junior Senior Dance Club formally introduced to the audience the candidates in this year’s search. The candidates were judged based on their sports wear, posture and fitness, stage presence, wit and intelligence and presentation.
Kent Ryan Baluyot bagged the Mr JHS Intramurals 2019 title along with other special awards including Mr. Photogenic and Best in Sports Wear. While Daniela Kite Latorre was crowned as this year’s Ms. JHS Intramurals 2019 the Best in Sports Wear award.
