THE Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has launched an initiative to attract Qatari engineers to work in different sectors of the ministry.
Director of the Human Resources Department at the MME, Jabr Abdullah al Attiya said the initiative comes as part of the sustainable strategic plan for the ministry and its sectors, within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Second National Development Strategy 2018-2022. This aims to provide the needs of the ministry on specialised jobs that play a key role in achieving the best level of performance and productivity. He added that recently, a number of Qatari engineers of both genders have been interviewed.
Attiya highlighted the importance the ministry gives to achieving the localisation of specialised jobs plan by 2021, which was set and being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs.
The plan includes granting scholarships to Qatari nationals for seven years from 2015 to 2021. It also includes specialised jobs such as engineering, veterinary medicine, law, computer and others.
He added that the number of qualified Qatari engineers working in the ministry is increasing steadily and in line with its plan and the instructions of the minister of Municipality and Environment to develop work and attract the best Qatari talents in various sectors of the ministry.
He said the initiative will be followed by other new steps aimed at improving the work environment and increasing the percentage of Qatari staff in the ministry.
