THE Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and the United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed the strategic relations and the means of boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields for their mutual benefit.
During a meeting at the British Prime Minister’s office on 10 Downing Street in London on Friday, the two leaders discussed several emerging issues in the Middle East, especially the developments in the Gulf.
At the beginning of the meeting, the British prime minister welcomed HH the Amir, pointing out that they are “old friends”.
Johnson noted that they met at the City Hall when he was Mayor of London and in Zurich when Qatar defeated England for the hosting of the 2022 World Cup.
He congratulated Qatar on that achievement, stressing that the relationship between Qatar and the United Kingdom is growing stronger and there are several landmarks in London attesting to this.
HH the Amir stressed the strength of the relations between the two countries, in addition to the strong personal relations between His Highness and the prime minister, pointing out that this meeting will contribute to strengthening the relations in several areas.
The members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir and senior officials of the British prime minister’s office attended the meeting.
