DOHA Oasis for Innovation, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in cooperation with the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum, an international organisation affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, kicked off on Sunday with participation of 32 countries.
The event being held under the supervision of Qatar Cultural and Heritage Events Center, in cooperation with the Qatar Scientific Club, under the slogan ‘The nation with its youth’, will continue until September 20.
The Doha Oasis for Innovation is dedicated to youth and aims at stimulating their creativity in the fields of invention and innovation and encouraging hard work in order to achieve development and prosperity.
The event also aims at enhancing the Muslim youths’ innovative capacities and digital skills. The event also includes individual and group competitions designed to develop abilities of young people in the fields of invention, innovation and manufacturing.
The individual competition for youths between the ages of 18 and 30 years has already been held. The panel of judges headed by Swiss David Taji Farouki as well as members from Qatar and Arab countries, will choose the best innovations according to international standards.
The group competition will start at Qatar Scientific Club on September 18 and conclude on September 20. Participants will be divided into several teams to work on collective innovation and invention at the contest.
The Qatar Scientific Club will provide all the equipment necessary to assist innovators in the implementation of their collective inventions.
In remarks on the sidelines of the event, Executive Director of Qatar Scientific Club Dr Hareb al Jabri stressed the club’s keenness to be part of the activities of Doha, Capital of Islamic Youth event because it represents an important stage for youth interested in science and have a passion for innovation.
