Mexican central defender Hector Moreno has left Real Sociedad in Spain to sign for QNB Stars League side Al Gharafa.
The 31-year-old who has played 100 times for Mexico, has also enjoyed time with Espanyol, PSV Eindhoven and Roma in his club career.
“Real Sociedad and Al Gharafa SC have reached an initial agreement for the transfer of Hector Moreno,” the San Sebastian club said.
“The player is in Qatar, with the permission of the club, to pass the medical examination.”
This summer, the Cheetahs have hit a reset button with the appointment of Slavisa Jokanovic. Al Gharafa last won the Falcon Shield in the 2009/10 season.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan international striker Sardor Rashidov has joined Qatar Sports Club ahead of the 2019/20 season.
A three-time Uzbekistan Super League winner who has been capped 49 times by his country, Rashidov joins the Kings after a brief stint with Portuguese top-flight outfit Nacional de Madeira.
Rashidov has already linked up with his new teammates at Qatar SC’s pre-season camp in Madrid. The Uzbek last played in Qatar for El Jaish.
Qatar SC narrowly avoided relegation last season, needing to overcome Mauither SC in a play-off to retain their top-flight status after finishing in 11th place.
