Fifth last year, Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan encountered bad day in the Tokyo Four-Star Beach Volleyball Tournament on Thursday. At the Shiokaze Park, the eighth seeds were stunned twice. First it was Belgians Dries Koekelkoren and Tom van Walle who had a surprise 25-23, 21-17 victory over the Qatari pair. Then French qualifiers Quincy Aye and Arnaud Gauthier-Rat took 32 minutes to inflict the second Pool E loss to Younousse and Tijan. On Friday, the Qatari players will face Brazilian fifth seeds Alison Cerutti and Alvaro Filho. Both are tied 1-1 in the first two career clashes.
