Arsenal completed the signing of Spain midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan from Real Madrid on Thursday. The 22-year-old played 13 games for Real in La Liga last season.
“We’re excited to see Dani join us. He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision,” Arsenal manager Unai Emery told the club’s website.
Ceballos said Emery’s presence had been a big factor in bringing him to the club.
“The coach was the turning point in terms of me joining this massive club,” he said. “He’s a Spanish coach and he knows me from my time at other clubs.
I’m really happy to be able to help Arsenal achieve our objectives. He’s a very tactical coach and I think that’s going to really help me to perfect my positioning. I think we’re both going to try our best to make me a better player.”
Arsenal also signed 18-year-old defender William Saliba from French club Saint-Etienne on a “long-term contract.” But the centre back will spend next season on loan back at Saint-Etienne, Arsenal said. (DPA)
