The Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) will participate in a humanitarian event being organised by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on the sidelines of UN Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) Humanitarian Affairs Segment (HAS), at the Palais des Nations in Geneva from June 24 to 26.
The event will address the humanitarian needs of the forcibly displaced people, including refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDPs).
According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), nearly 131 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance. Moreover, the number of forcibly displaced people, including refugees and Internally Displaced People (IDPs) rose to 68.5 million in 2017.
Against this backdrop, QFFD will participate in the high level panel discussion under the theme ‘Addressing Unmet Needs: Humanitarian Funding Trends and Gaps’ at the event.
The event will discuss the unmet needs in humanitarian funding and explore how to better respond to situations where affected populations receive insufficient international aid and attention in spite of growing needs.
