Qatar is participating, with a delegation from the Advisory (Shura) Council, in the fourth plenary session of the Arab Parliament, which began in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday.
The session is focusing on the current Arab situation in light of the crises, challenges and developments in the Arab countries. The meet is discussing the efforts of the Arab Parliament to support joint Arab action and confront the threats facing Arab national security.
The committees of the Arab Parliament concluded their meetings on Tuesday in preparation for the fourth plenary session.
The committee on foreign and political affairs and national security discussed a draft resolution on the latest developments in Yemen, in addition to the political and security developments in the Arab countries and the developments of joint Arab action in light of the decisions of the 30th Arab Summit held in Tunis on March 31.
The committee on economic and financial affairs reviewed a number of proposals concerning the requirements of achieving the common Arab market, Arab economic legislation and Arab trade exchange.
The committee also studied the drafting of work proposals for the parliament in the field of electrical interconnection between Arab countries and facilitating the digital economy in the Arab world.
The legislative, legal and human rights committee discussed a draft resolution on tackling the phenomenon of Islamophobia and reviewed a memorandum on the latest developments in joint Arab action on legislative, legal and human rights issues. It also reviewed a report on the follow-up of human rights in Palestine.
The committee on social, educational and cultural affairs, women and youth reviewed a report on the plans to issue the Arab document on women’s rights and a report on the developments of joint Arab action in the area of competence of the committee.
