The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Monday opened a 24/7 “Visitor’s Office” at the Verdict Execution Department. The office will facilitate increased public access to court orders and follow-up procedures. It will also help people clear penalties through an automated payment system and obtain certificates with ease.
The office comes as part of the ministry’s modernisation drive and is aimed at reducing the time taken to complete certain legal procedures.
Director General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al Khulaifi, and several department directors were present at the event to mark the opening.
Khulaifi said the opening of the office would have a positive effect on the implementation of judicial rules in Qatar.
Director of Verdict Execution Department Colonel Saif al Khayarin said the new office operates around the clock and represents a qualitative leap, as it eliminates the need to make multiple trips to various offices within the department.
The office allows visitors to quickly complete all the procedures and transactions that used to consume a lot of time, he added.
It also reminds users of all relevant notifications accompanying a particular order or penalty, he said, noting that automated payment system for clearing penalties was set up in coordination with the Public Prosecution Office.
Khayarin said the Visitor’s Office is equipped with the latest equipment to ensure hassle-free transactions, especially for the elderly and people with special needs.
