Doha
The boys and girls chess teams of MES Indian School bagged the overall second runner up position in the CBSE Qatar Cluster Chess Tournament, which was held at Birla Public School for students under 11, 14 and 17 and 19 categories.
In the tournament that saw the participation of all the CBSE schools in Doha, MES obtained 46 points in aggregate, including the team championship to its credit, by winning four gold medals in girls’ under-19 category.
In the under-14 girls and under 19, 17 and 14 boys categories of the tournament, MES won 16 bronze medals.
The girls’ U-19 team got selected for the CBSE Chess National Championship to held in India later this year.
School Principal Hameeda Kadar praised the efforts of the students.
