Al Duhail midfielder Luiz Martin stressed the importance of the Amir Cup final match against Al Sadd on Thursday.
The Brazilian-born star, who has been part of the club’s success said it will be great to hoist the at the Al Wakrah Stadium.
“We know the importance of this game and this tournament for everyone in Qatar.
“This tournament always attracts all the players, and everyone likes to play in this event. We at Al Duhail take this game seriously, and with great respect. Our focus is to hold the trophy at the Al Wakrah Stadium,” Martin said.
The 30-year-old who moved to Qatar in 2010 said their league struggles against Al Sadd will not matter in Thursday’s game.
“We played well against Al Sadd in the league, but we did not win,” he said.
“We drew with a goal from an individual error after, but the situation is completely different. This is a very different and important tournament for us because we will go into the match as the defending champions.”
On Xavi’s retirement, Martin said, “I am delighted to have met a player like Xavi, a phenomenon in the world of football and a distinguished player who has everyone’s respect.
“It is a great value for us and he gives a lot of quality and for me, he is the one of the best players. His presence in Qatar brought extra value for the league,”he concluded.
