Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador Mohammed al Emadi has announced a slew of humanitarian projects in Gaza Strip.
In a press conference in Gaza, Emadi said $180 million of the total Qatari grant will be allocated for humanitarian projects that serves Gaza and supports the electricity sector, in consultation and coordination with the UN institutions.
Emadi said Qatar will build a field hospital on the border of the northern Gaza Strip on an area of 40 dunums to support the health sector. Meanwhile, the contract of supplying the power plant in Gaza will be extended until the end of this year.
He said Qatar will support the 161 projects within the plan to develop and improve the electricity supply in Gaza, and will continue the disbursement of cash assistance to poor and needy families for six months.
Emadi said both Hamas and Israel do not want to escalate the situation, adding that if the recent escalation continued for few more hours, the world would have witnessed humanitarian disasters.
Emadi said he will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh in Ramallah within two days.
