Qatar Charity (QC) continues to implement its ‘Ramadan Supply’ and ‘Ramadan Gift’ projects to support about 16,000 people from low-income families in Qatar during the holy month.
The ‘Ramadan Supply’ project provides the families with coupons for essential foodstuffs for the month of Ramadan while the ‘Ramadan Gift’ is given to them as financial aid to help them meet their living needs in the holy month.
The total cost of the ‘Ramadan Supply’ project amounts to QR1.2 million, benefiting 13,300 people in Qatar, while the ‘Ramadan Gift’, the social assistance that Qatar Charity provides to low-income families, targets 2,500 people this year with a total cost of more than QR1 million.
Ali al Ghareeb, director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity, said, “Ramadan Supply and Ramadan Gifts are among the most important projects launched by Qatar Charity during the holy month, in addition to its other programmes to help a large number of low-income persons during the holy month.”
Through the implementation of these projects, Qatar Charity aims at promoting positive values within the community and helping low-income families during this holy month, Al-Gharib added, emphasising the keenness of Qatar Charity to reach maximum number of families.
He said the distribution of coupons for the basic foodstuff started before the advent of Ramadan, adding that the number of beneficiaries of both projects would reach 16,000 across Qatar this year.
Qatar Charity has launched several significant projects for this Ramadan, being implemented in Qatar, such as 45 iftar tables across the country, mobile iftar for workers and Al-Aqraboon programme to support low-income families.
The projects implemented in Qatar cost QR17.2 million, benefiting more than 700,000 people during the holy month.
