AMU alumni group hosts community iftar

The Alumni Association of India’s prestigious Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) hosted the AMU Alumni Qatar Community Iftar at the Museum of Islamic Art Park Doha on Thursday.
The iftar was attended by more than 200 people, including alumni, families and guests. This is second time the AMUAAQ has organised the community iftar in open area (lawn/park) similar to the alma mater (AMU) tradition.
AMU Alumni President Jawed Ahmad presided over the event.
The AMU Alumni Association Qatar is a non-profit, sociocultural organisation committed to promoting a sense of brotherhood and foster a spirit of community wellness. The forum’s objective is to serve the welfare, educational, social, literary, sports and cultural needs of the community.
Executive and Advisory Committee welcomed the alumni and their families and introduced the guests. Dr M S Bukhari, noted industrialist and chief patron of the AMU Alumni, was the chief guest.
The programme was coordinated by Zeyaul Haque, Moshher Alam, Javed Sultan, Farman Khan and Dr Ashna Nusrat.
Sheikh Mahmood Anani spoke about the importance of the Holy Month of Ramadan and Zakat. “Ramadan is a wonderful opportunity to repent from sins and wrong doings. We should take the momentum forward and work for the purity of soul and enhancement of Taqwa,” he said.
Appreciation certificates were distributed to multi-specialised free medical camp team by Dr Bukhari along with AMUAAQ committee.
The advisory team said the same committee has been extended for another term based on general opinion to achieve the planned vision and mission.
Dr Bukhari appreciated the president and team for services towards alumni and community and encouraged them to keep up the good work. He said he would always stand with AMU and Alumni Association for noble cause. Jawed Ahmad thanked the guests and requested the alumni to keep up the good work and share their innovative ideas for the uplift of the community and society.
Qamare Alam, Ali Imran, Dr Syed Jaffery, Shahid Yar Khan, Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani, Ziauddin Ahmad, Abdul Karim, Abu Rizwan, Asif Khan, Ahmed, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Sanjeev Sharma, Khalid, Irfan Hassan, Irfanullah, Reza, Rizwan, Kashif, Tabish, Firoz Khan, Dr Moin Khan, and Shad Kaisar were among those who attended the function.
Isha and Tarawih prayers were performed on the ground after dinner.
