Mosques have completed their preparations to host worshippers during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The number of cleaners at many mosques has also been increased and renovations at some old mosques have been completed for the convenience of worshippers.
The Mosques Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has taken many steps such as increasing the drinking water supply at mosques and adding more cleaning staff in different work shifts to cover most of the day, especially in the evening time when Tarawih prayers and Qiyam (Overnight) prayers take place.
Ramadan is a special occasion during which the number of worshippers in mosques multiplies and special traditions are observed in Qatar.
Besides, some worshippers have started bringing in dates to the mosques, especially for those who spend a lot of time in the mosque, in addition to pillows and chairs for the elderly.
Most neighbourhoods in Doha have also mosques that help worshippers offer prayer. Shopping malls and commercial buildings also make arrangements for praying corners during the holy month.
