LEADER of the Indian delegation at the recently concluded 140th session of IPU General Assembly in Doha and Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament, Harivansh Narayan Singh, said that he was impressed by the rapid development being witnessed in Qatar, as well as the country’s focus on developing its human resources.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Singh also praised Qatar for the superb organisation of the mega IPU event and the warm hospitality accorded to over 2,400 participants.
He congratulated the Speaker of Shura Council HE Ahmed bin Abdullah al Mahmoud for the successful organisation of the event.

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani at the opening ceremony for highlighting all vital issues facing the world today, which parliamentarians need to address.
He pointed out that the parliamentarians discussed highly important issues during the 140th session including terrorism, peace, security, rule of law, human rights, gender violence, education, environment and sustainable development goals.
He said that the focus of the Indian delegation during the meet was on education, peace, security, rule of law and climate change. “We also discussed how to address these issues and prosper together”, he pointed out.
