International conference on national, regional and international mechanism to combat impunity and ensure accountability under international law will take place in Doha at the Hotel Ritz Carlton from today.
The two-day conference is being organised by Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) in collaboration with United Nations, European Parliament and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
About 250 government and non-governmental human rights organisations are expected to attend the conference.
Thirty experts and heads of human rights bodies will be addressing the conference.
The speakers include Dr Ali bin Smaikh al Marri, chairman of Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee; Pier Antonio Panzeri, chair, European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights; Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Carlos Negret Mosquera, president of Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI); Catherine Marchi-Uhel, Serious Crimes in Syria; Mohamad Ali Alnsour, head of MENA Region, UNHC on Human Rights; and Brenda Hollis, prosecutor Residual Court, Sierra Leone, Brenda Hollis, Justice Consultancy Int’l LLC.
