Flickers Qatar, one of the most active Filipino badminton groups in Doha, hosted a friendly tournament at Ali bin Hamad al Attiyah Arena recently.
The event was part of the regular programme of the group for its members aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle through sport. It was led by Flickers Qatar Chairman Renato Ajero and President Kutchie Reyes.
The fun-filled tournament saw a number of badminton enthusiasts in action, both men and women and across ages. The roster of winners included the ‘mother and daughter’ tandem of Isabel and Yanna Baluyot for the women’s doubles (category CD). The tournament’s youngest player Rhianne Cassey Caburnay is part of the tandem which ranked runner-up in women’s doubles (EF category).
The successful event was a joint effort of the leadership of Flickers which also include Vice President Edsel Hernandez, Secretary 1 Ercil Bencio, Secretary 2 Jani Gayoma Treasurer Mau Campos, Assistant Treasurer Errol Talamor and Auditor Isabel Baluyut.
Other office-bearers are directors Lance Magpoc, Allan Nabong, Cris Nunez, Ruel Senupe, Cyrus Casihan and Joe Sagad with Ana Valencia as media consultant. The pool of advisers of the group is comprised of its former presidents Alano Merto, Mechie Ortiaga and Fidel Hernandez.
Ortiaga of JC Premier Qatar gave away products worth QR2500 during the raffle draw during the event.
