The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has opened five new Qatar Visa Centers (QVC) in India as part of the ‘Qatar Visa Centers (QVCs) Abroad Programme’.
The five Indian cities where the new QVCs have been set up are: Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi. Earlier, MoI had opened QVCs in New Delhi and Mumbai.
The opening of the QVCs in India will facilitate and simplify the recruitment and work visa procedures for Indian expatriates travelling to Qatar for work before their arrival in Qatar.
Speaking at the launch, Major Abdullah Khalifa al Mohannadi, Director of Visa Supports Services (VSS) Department at the General Directorate of Passports of Qatar, said India is the fourth country where QVCs have been opened after Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. The opening of the QVCs is part of a project to launch 20 service centres in eight countries including Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia and Tunisia. These centres will help speed up the expatriates’ residence procedures and the follow-up by the authorities concerned in Qatar.
These centres will provide a wide range of services such as fingerprinting, biometric data recording, medical examinations and signing of employment contract before their departure to Qatar.
It will ensure protection of the rights of both expatriates and employers, and documenting the work contract before expatriates travel to Qatar.
This facility will avoid cases of return of the employee in case of ineligibility and enable them to start work immediately upon arrival in Qatar if he is eligible.
The employer has to start the initial registration through the website of the Ministry of Interior of Qatar (www.moi.gov.qa) or app of the MoI
‘Metrash2’.
The recruitment procedures are the same as before, but have been transferred from Qatar to the expats’ own countries.
The employer has to pay all recruitment fees in Qatar to let the worker follow up further procedures through Qatar visa centres abroad.
