Orphan Care Center (Dreama) celebrated the conclusion of its initiative called ‘A Hero Empowerment’ recently with Dreama children and foster mothers.
The event featured several activities for children including drawing, painting and calligraphy competitions as well as workshops. It also included activities aimed at facilitating integration of orphans into the community and enabling them to become self-dependent.
During the closing ceremony, the participating children of Dreama were honoured.
Shaikha al Shahwani, head of Social Care Section, Social Services Department at the centre, said the initiative comes within the framework of Dreama’s continuous efforts to help Dreama children become self-dependent and provide them with a family atmosphere.
Shahwani said the events also aimed at introducing Dreama to the community at large and involve them in its mission to support orphans.
Shahwani pointed out that the Qatari community comprises philanthropists and Dreama activities are not limited to care, services and help, but go beyond to empower Qatari community.
The initiative consisted of activities aimed at empowering Dreama heroes, including reading of 10 selected stories about self-esteem and responsibility; participating in a field trip to Baladna Farm and writing a report on it; planting seedlings; and teaching them drawing and art skills.
