THE Cabinet, at its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani at Amiri Diwan on Wednesday, approved a draft decision to amend some of the provisions of Decision No 40 of 2017 concerning establishment of the National Committee for Combating Drugs.
This committee, which is established at the Ministry of the Interior, is specialised in setting up public policy, coordinating official and non-official efforts in the field of combating and preventing all kinds of drugs, supporting and coordinating the efforts of the State’s various organs in this field, coordinating with the Ministry of Public Health regarding its plans and programmes and treating and rehabilitating of drug abusers.
The Cabinet also approved a proposal to reform the committee of the Board of Trustees of the State’s Recognition and Encouragement Awards.
This committee, established at the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is responsible for supervising the awards issues in order to achieve their goals, in particular the following:
1- Supervising the implementation of the general policy of the two awards.
2- Declaring the two awards and the schedule for accepting nominations.
3- Evaluating the intellectual and creative performance of the candidates for the State’s Recognition Award, identifying the winners, and announcing the final result.
4- Proposing the necessary financial allocations for the two awards.
Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a draft air services agreement between the governments of Qatar and Haiti.
The Cabinet also approved the participation of Qatar in the Hannover International Industrial Exhibition in the Federal Republic of Germany from April 1-5 this year. The Cabinet then reviewed a letter from the Ministry of Transport and Communications on a report on the outcomes of the work of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee between July 1 and December 31, 2018.
The committee, which is established at the General Civil Aviation Authority, is specialised in the development of public policies related to the security of civil aviation and coordination between ministries, government organs and other entities concerned with the implementation of the national civil aviation security programme.
It also reviewed a letter from HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment on the outcomes of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture and the International Green Week (Berlin, January 2019). The Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs HE Dr Issa bin Saad al Jafali al Nuaimi stated the agenda and decisions of the meeting.
