The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) will convert the Al-Rifaa Intersection (Sanaa Signals) into a temporary roundabout, the authority has announced.
Ashghal wiil also divert traffic on part of the A-Ring Road in both directions from after Ras Bu Abboud Bridge up to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout into a parallel diversion road with the same number of lanes.
The diversion will start from today, Thursday, February 28, and last for a period of three months, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
During the period, Ashghal will also close the part of Ali Bin Omar Al-Attiya Street that leads to and from Al-Rifaa Intersection so that traffic heading from the intersection to Ali Bin Omar Al-Attiya Street can use a temporary parallel road.
Traffic heading from Ali Bin Omar Al-Attiya Street towards Al-Rifaa Intersection can use Al-Dostour Street leading to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout and then to Al-Rifaa Intersection.
This is in addition to diverting the right-turn leading from A-Ring Road to B-Ring Road (towards Al-Doha Al-Jadeeda Intersection) and vice versa.
The diversion aims to facilitate expansion and upgrading works on Al-Rifaa Intersection and installation of new traffic lights as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and reducing congestion in the areas surrounding the A-Ring Road.
The Public Works Authority will instal road signs to guide motorists of the diversion.
Ashghal has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit and follow the road signs to ensure their safety. (TNN)
