The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara, in cooperation with the Istanbul Intercultural Dialogue (IKASD) and Mazaya Company, is hosting an art exhibition titled ‘The Horse is Turk’s Wings’ at Katara Building 18.
The opening ceremony was attended by General Manager of Katara Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti, Ambassador of Turkey to Qatar HE Fikret ozer, HE Askar Shokybayev and Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim al Thani, in addition to several diplomats and art enthusiasts.
The exhibition by Turkish artist Ayten Caglar, who spent 10 years for studying Turkish horses closely, features fascinating paintings that reflect the beauty of Turkish horses and their importance for the Turkish nation.
The Turkish ambassador said Qatar and Turkey cooperate not only in political and economic fields, but also in cultural sector, and this exhibition is a result of the cooperation.
As many as 23 paintings are on display at the exhibition. They are classified into two sections: one focuses on the horses in the Ottoman era and their importance to the Sultans then. The second section sheds light on the different breeds of the Turkish horses and exposes their beauty.
The exhibition will run until February 26.
