THE Committee for Accreditation of Engineers & Consultancy Offices of the Ministry of Municipality & Environment (MME) has prepared three model contracts to organise relationship between citizens and the consultant engineering offices.
The contracts seek to define the relationship between citizens and engineering consulting offices in the fields of design and supervision of the implementation of the work and to explain the minimum requirements in such contracts to make it easier and cost-effective.
The preparation of the consultancy contracts is based on a recommendation of the Central Municipal Council to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in this regard.
The citizens can download the copies of the new guidelines on the contracts from the website of the ministry. The consultancy contracts cover three areas, including providing engineering services for supervision of villa, for villa designing and also for building a villa.
The Committee for Accreditation of Engineers & Consultancy Offices said that such contracts would ensure the rights and obligations of each party. The consultancy services in the fields of design and supervision shall include the dos and don’ts for the engineering consultancy office and the contractor, their responsibilities, the obligations of the owner towards the engineering consultancy office and the contractor, the period of execution of the contract and the delay penalties.
It also includes provisions for fees to the engineering consulting offices and contractor, ownership of documents, settlement of disputes and termination of contract. Arabic language is the language of the contract.
